Bluetooth Pairing Instructions:

Sonova (Phonak, Unitron, Kirkland Signature 9/10, UHC Relate2.0, Etc.) hearing aids use 2 types of Bluetooth: normal Bluetooth (for streaming), and “low energy” or LE Bluetooth (for the app). We are going to pair both if you would like to use the app as well as “stream” (phone calls, audio in general) from your phone to your hearing aids.

Pairing to your phone for streaming:

NOTE: To activate “Bluetooth pairing mode”, the hearing aids need to be restarted. The best way is to place the hearing aids into the charger with the charger plugged into the wall – but don’t pull them out just yet as we only have a couple of minutes to pair.

Step 1: Go into your Bluetooth settings, select “SCAN” or turn your Bluetooth off and on again

Step 2: Now pull your hearing aids out of the charger.

Step 3: After about 10-15 seconds or so, you should see a device that says either “R-Phonak hearing aid” OR “L-Phonak hearing aid” – you don’t need to pair both at this stage, just the one that shows up as EXACTLY

“R-Phonak hearing aid” OR “L-Phonak hearing aid”

Step 4: Tap on whichever of the above shows up, you only need to pair one

for the streaming to work with both hearing aids

CONGRATS! You should now be connected to your phone for streaming!

Pro-Tip: Be sure to disable ALL of your system sounds (such as the haptic sounds, etc.) as your hearing aids will try to stream EVERY. SINGLE. SOUND…and that can be incredibly annoying.

Now let’s pair your hearing aids to your app:

Preparations: Plug your hearing aids into the charger with the charger plugged into the wall then download (CLICK HERE for Android) (CLICK HERE for iPhone) and open up the “myPhonak” App.

If you are RE-pairing after an update or the app isn’t connecting to your hearing aids for some reason, see next page

Step 1: Pull the hearing aids out of the charger and place them near your phone

Step 2: Select the green “Continue” to “Connect your hearing aids to the app”

Step 3: You should see both “LE_R-Phonak hearing aid” AND

“LE_L-Phonak hearing aid” with a green “Select” button to the right of both

– if only one shows up, please WAIT until both show up otherwise you will only pair one side and we have to start over

Step 4: Once you see both show up, tap on the “Select” button

Step 5: Select the “Pair” and then “Pair” button on both when prompted, your phone will ask once per hearing aid

…AND THAT’S IT! At this point the phone will read the settings from both hearing aids, then you will be ready to use the app!

Pro-Tip: To save your phone’s battery, the hearing aids will disconnect from the “low energy” or the app when you are not actively using the app, so sometimes it takes a few seconds for the hearing aids to reconnect to your phone when you first open the app – the streaming function of the hearing aids will always be connected when you have Bluetooth enabled on your phone.

Forgetting the devices in the app:

Step 1: Go to and tap on the top right “3 lines” or “hamburger” icon Step 2: Select “My Hearing Aids”

Step 3: Scroll to the very bottom and select “Forget devices”, then “Yes, forget”

Once you’ve successfully forgotten the devices in the app, refer back to step 1 in the “Pairing to the App” section (the previous page) for re-pairing instructions.
